Hi, I'm Steph - a 48 year old mum, nonna, and breast cancer survivor.
Three years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my right breast. Four operations later, I'm incredibly grateful to still be here, even if I'm now one breast lighter.
For almost a year, I wore a prosthetic breast. It became part of my daily routine, like showering or brushing my teeth. But after a few days away in Rome, I realised just how uncomfortable, hot, and heavy it was. In that moment, I decided to ditch the fake boob, embrace my new body, and be proud of it.
Before my surgeries, a wonderful friend wrote me a card that said, "You are brave and you are beautiful and you are loved." I carried those words with me every single day. As I healed, I found myself thinking about others who might be facing an operation or navigating a devastating diagnosis. I thought about the things that would have brought me comfort, the small gestures that might have made the journey a little more bearable.
That's when I began designing a logo. The words Brave & Beautiful kept coming back to me. And because each of my operations took place on the Peony Ward, and because peonies were the flowers I chose for our wedding bouquets just months before my diagnosis, the peony felt like the perfect symbol. It held everything, strength, softness, resilience, and beauty.
I've created a collection of simple but meaningful items that I hope will offer strength, comfort, and courage to anyone who needs it, whether they are battling cancer themselves, or supporting a friend or family member.
More than anything, I hope they remind us, every single day, just how Brave and Beautiful we truly are.
Lots of love,
Steph x
